Rohini Chaki is a writer and multimedia journalist with training in video, data and computational journalism. She holds a Master of Science degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. At Columbia, Rohini won the 2018 Louis Winnick Prize for best reporting on New York City. At the University of Pittsburgh, she wrote the first full-length doctoral dissertation on South Asian American theatre, bringing into focus works exploring the South Asian community’s performance of precarious belonging in a nation-state that sees them variously as cultural others or even threats.

Rohini’s journalistic interests focus on women’s health and public policy. Other areas that animate her writing include food and travel, parenting, immigrant cultures, and arts criticism. Rohini lives in Jersey City, New Jersey.
